Volker Gerling
Bilder lernen laufen, indem man sie herumträgt
When Volker Gerling leafs through his flip-book, miniature art turns into great cinema. The Berlin concept artist projects photographed image sequences onto a screen: People and places in motion. Simultaneously, he tells the stories that go with the pictures. To collect his photographic tales, Gerling hikes around Europe and documents chance encounters with his camera – three images per second for the duration of twelve seconds. Thirty-six images make a story. Year after year, new vignettes are added to this magic book full of moments waiting to come alive again someplace – at the Theater Spektakel, for example. (ron)
